Cultivating the spark already inside you.
A boutique college consulting approach from a former Stanford admissions interviewer and Stanford alum.

Stanford alum & former Stanford admissions interviewer
About
Someone who knows what it takes.
I graduated Stanford University with a double major in Earth Systems and Economics. My career began at demanding firms — Goldman Sachs and Bain & Company. I honed my skills for investing in venture capital. Ultimately, I took these experiences and started multiple companies.
Most of college consulting is a transactional, intensive essay prep during senior year. The real work starts far earlier. Colleges are admitting a holistic person. We offer something other services cannot. We're here to mentor students and cultivate their interests with a lens for who they aspire to be.
As a former Stanford admissions interviewer, I believe leading with that as our philosophy naturally develops an application that stands out. Too many services — even the boutique ones — lead with crafting an application. Elite colleges are too discerning and can tell when an application is manicured. Our goal at Emberly is to truly nurture students for success in college and beyond.
Our Approach
The earlier we start — the more we can build together.
9th, 10th, and 11th Grade
A comprehensive package that covers all the bases.
Meet the student
We make sure to get to know who they are. Not just their academic profile.
Academic guidance
We help guide and recommend academic coursework catered to their goals.
Personal development
We nurture and encourage their non-academic interests. From internships, to capstone projects, and more. Our network and mentorship encourages them to excel outside the classroom.
Essay package
We're with them every step of the way — from the personal statement to any supplemental essays. We start well before application season but will be the most intense during senior year.
Interviews
We've interviewed on behalf of the top schools. We'll prep to help them stand out.
12th Grade
Our application bootcamp — comprehensive essay support from ideation to submission.
Limited Cohort
Currently onboarding our Inaugural Summer/Fall 2026 Class.
Every student in this cohort is guaranteed to work directly with Andy. Limited to 5 students total.
FAQ
Questions our families most commonly ask.
While some start during senior year through our application bootcamp, the real work is done before application season. We strongly believe in getting to know the student and cultivating a mentorship role so we can help nurture the budding young adult over multiple years. A strong application package is a natural by-product vs. the central goal. We want your child to succeed at their dream college and beyond.
Colleges want to admit a candidate that can show who they truly are — not an academic checklist. It can be hard for a teen to know exactly how to cultivate their variety of interests. We're here to help nurture those passions into internships, projects, maybe even a business. From brainstorming, testing, to implementing, we'll be there to provide advice and guidance at every step. Most importantly, we believe mentoring these interests is what actually creates a well-developed individual. A strong application package will naturally follow.
We are highly tailored and curated — working with only 5 students for our inaugural summer/fall 2026 class. Our approach comes from the lens of someone who's walked this path — from college and beyond. Other services only offer a few hours with the "senior counselors." Each student will work directly with Andy and get his full attention.
We believe that each family and student deserves personal attention and guidance. You're placing immense trust in us — in return, we are guaranteeing direct access and availability. Unlike most firms in this industry, we are deliberately focusing on a boutique level of service and attention. We believe this leads to successful outcomes and have built our model around this.
No — and you should steer far away from anyone who does. What we can guarantee is a devoted and curated approach to treating each student with care. We don't take your trust lightly and respond by developing a tailored approach — bespoke for each student.
Yes. All sessions are held remotely over video calls with in-person visits where appropriate.
We don't charge for our initial consultation. We use the 30-minute call to understand who your child is, their ambitions, and where they currently are in their process. If we believe it's a fit, we will lay out our recommendations and package.
Every student is coming to us at different stages in their process so we don't have a one-size-fits-all pricing model. If we determine it's a fit during the initial consultation, we will clearly lay out pricing and expectations before you make your decision.
